I love MyPoints! It’s a great website where you can save money and earn rewards. I’ve been a member of MyPoints since 2008 and have earned just about 52,000 points in those 9 years. I’ve redeemed $305 worth of various gift cards using those points. Lately, I’ve been redeeming them for Walmart gift cards to help pay for our grocery shopping. It’s possible to earn a lot more than I have though; it just depends on how much time you have to spend on it and how much money you want to earn. While looking at my earnings, I saw a section that has a list of this month’s leaders. Just in September alone, the top leader has earned over 616,000 points! That is a lot of gift cards that person’s earned! So, what can you do to save money and earn rewards?

Earn Rewards with Shop
Before you are going to make an online purchase, make sure you go to MyPoints first! You will earn points for all of your purchases. You just go to the “shop” category and you can shop by “All Stores,” “In Store,” or “Buy Gift Cards.”
“All Stores” gives you a list of all the stores you can purchase from online and how many points you’ll earn per dollar spent at each store. It also gives you the coupons that are available at each store to use with your purchase so you can save money and earn rewards at the same time.
The stores are listed in alphabetical order, so they’re easy to find. Popular stores are also listed using graphics across the top to make them even easier to find. There’s even a search bar at the top where you can just type in the store name and be directed directly to the offers. Once there, you either click “earn points” to be directed to the store and shop and make your purchase, or click “shop now” next to the coupon offer you also want to take advantage of while you shop.
I use this section to shop mostly on Amazon and Bath and Body Works. My biggest problem is remembering to look here first before shopping (I just made 2 Amazon purchases this past week and forgot to shop through MyPoints!). If I remembered, I would earn lots more points. I think I’ll put a sticky note on my desk, to help me remember from now on.
“In Store” if there’s a promotion available, you just take a photo of your receipt after you shop, upload it and get points.
“Buy Gift Cards” this offers electronic gift cards to hundreds of retailers. You’ll earn a certain percent back for each purchase you make (the amount varies for each gift card) which you can use to redeem for free gift cards at over 80 different retailers. The electronic gift cards you purchase will be sent to your email within 1 to 2 days. Some of the companies you can buy gift cards for are Lowes, Ulta, Panera, Groupon, Applebees, and Petco.Do you want to earn gift cards in an easy and fun way? Save Money with Deals
In the “Deals” section you can earn points for signing up for offers from various companies. If you’re thinking of signing up for something, this is a great way to do it because you’ll also earn points, which you can redeem for gift cards!
Here are some of the offers:
If you sign up for:
- Hulu, you will earn 1500 points.
- Gillette on Demand, you will earn 3000 points.
- Gamefly, you’ll earn 1500 points.
- Dr. Suess Book Club, you’ll earn 500 points.
There are currently 31 different companies with offers.
Save Money with Coupons
This is one of my favorite ways to earn points! If you’ve read any of my Grocery Shopping Savings and Tips posts, you know how much I love saving money, and couponing is a huge part of that. I even talk about how I use MyPoints.com in my The Best Way to Save Money Using Coupons post. So, anyway, there are two categories in the Coupon section, “Coupon Codes” and “Grocery Coupons.”
“Coupon Codes” helps you find coupons by coupon type and category. There are 29 different coupon types like: gift with purchase, dollar off, percent off, free shipping, rebate, and bogo. The categories are too many to count! They are for things like: apparel, babies and kids, back to school, beauty and cosmetics, holidays, food, health and nutrition, kitchen, shoes, yard and gardening. Make sure you check this section before making any purchases.
“Grocery Coupons” offers you lots of coupons for items you buy at the grocery store. Right now there are 316 coupons available to print. You can just choose the ones you want to print, you don’t have to print them all. You get 1 point for every coupon you print, and 10 points for every coupon you redeem. So, you save money and earn rewards at the same time! I receive an email every time a new set of coupons comes out and I always look through them and find quite a bit to print and redeem at my local grocery stores.
Earn Rewards with Surveys
This section gives you surveys that you can take. It tells you how long the survey should take and how many points you’ll earn if you complete it. Right now, the surveys on my survey page range from 50 to 425 points. Sometimes you don’t qualify for a survey, but you’ll still earn 5 points for trying to take it. Everyday I get an email reminding me I have surveys available to take. The link in the email takes me right to the survey page.
Earn Rewards with Videos
The videos section has three categories: “Videos,” “nCrave,” and “Sponsored Videos.”
“Videos” has videos you can watch about news, entertainment, health and wellness, travel and home and garden. They add new videos every day. Each category has 4 sub-categories of videos you can watch. They show how many are in each sub-category, how long they are, and how many points you’ll earn for watching each one.
“nCrave” is where you can watch videos, read articles and view slideshows of topics you like. You can earn points for doing this too. At the moment, I didn’t have any of these available, so I can’t tell you what they’re about.
“Sponsored Videos” are videos you can also watch to earn points, but there weren’t any of these available either at the moment, for me to tell you about. Part of it is I have an ad blocker on, so it prevents me from seeing some of these things.
Earn Rewards with Games
I never tried the games before because I thought you had to pay for them, but I decided to try clicking on them to see what happened. At the top it says, “play $10 in cash entry fees for 4580 points.” I didn’t want to do that, so I just looked down through the games and decided to click on a couple of them. I clicked on Bejeweled 2 and Super Plinko. It said both of those games were available to play for free, so I played Super Plinko. It was fun, especially since I watched the Price is Right a lot growing up, and I even earned 700 game points and 5 MyPoints! There are Casino games, Worldwinner, and Most Popular. All together there are 16 different games to choose from. You can earn 5 or 10 MyPoints by playing them.
Save Money with Travel
You can compare travel sites and earn rewards. There are hotels, flights, cars and vacations. You earn a certain amount of points per dollar spent when you book your travel plans through MyPoints.
“Hotels” You can search Holiday Inn, Expedia, Travelocity or Hotels.com. They offer 3 to 7 points per dollar.
“Flights” You can choose from Expedia, Jet Blue Getaways, Cheap Air, Hawaiian Airlines or Virgin Atlantic. They offer from 1 point, all the way to 500 points.
“Cars” You can search Expedia, CarRentals.com, Enterprise, National, or Hertz. They are 1 point to 6 points per dollar.
“Vacations” You can choose from Expedia, Orbitz, Vayama or Sandals. They offer 2 or 6 points per dollar, or 820 points.
There are also 7 other travel offers, and more than 65 travel deals from Groupon and Living Social.
In this section there are “Daily 5,” “Daily Poll,” “Download Score!,” “Search and Earn,” and “Refer-a-Friend.”
“Daily 5” is where you can earn 5 bonus points by completing a variety of activities. You can choose which 5 activities you want to complete. They send a daily email reminder for you to complete this if you want.
“Daily Poll” Everyday there’s a different poll that you can answer and earn a point. I enjoy filling these out every day. Today’s poll asked, “Did you travel anywhere for your summer vacation?” Then there were 5 answers you could choose from. This is a fun, easy and quick way to earn a point every day.
“Download Score!” This is something you add to your browser. Through this browser, you can shop at over 1400 stores and it shows you what coupons are available,. There’s also a “get rewarded” button you can push to earn points for your purchase. This is just a more convenient way to shop, rather than searching for a store in their “shop” section that I talked about above.
“Search and Earn” You just enter the word, term, phrase, etc. of whatever you want to search the web for, and you can earn points for it.
“Refer-a-Friend” You can refer as many friends as you want to MyPoints. When they accept your invitation, you earn 25 points. When they spend $20 or more, you earn 750 points and your friend earns 1750 points. You also earn 10% bonus points, from the points they earn. It’s a win-win for both you and your friends. It’s easy to invite them too. There’s a place for you to post your invite on Facebook or Twitter. There’s also a place where you can send a personal email to your friends.
So, as you can see, there are many different ways you can earn points at MyPoints.com. You can spend as little or as much time as you want, earning points every day. I think it’s great that you can earn points on things you’re going to buy anyway, and may even find coupons for your purchases! I love to save money and it’s great that I can earn rewards at the same time! Since it doesn’t cost you anything, there’s nothing to lose, so:
