The $5 Meal Plan is a great solution for busy moms who want to save time and money! It’s a weekly meal plan service that helps make your meal planning quick and easy. It’s only $5 a month, and you’ll receive a meal plan where every meal only costs about $2 per person. The best thing is, there’s a 14-day free trial!
*This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience (which means if you make a purchase after clicking a link I will earn a small commission which helps keep my blog up and running but it won’t cost you a penny more)! Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
Registering for the $5 meal plan is so easy; if I can do it (being technologically challenged), you can do it! They do ask for your billing information, but they don’t charge you until after the 14 day trial period is over. The great thing is, they even send you a few reminder emails before that 14 day period is over, in case you want to cancel it.
After you register for the plan, you get access to 5 different things on their site: custom meal plan, free member’s choice meal plan, a welcome video, a Facebook group, and a member area. These are all in addition to the weekly meal plan they’ll send you!
The Custom Meal Plan
In the Custom Meal Plan area of the $5 meal plan website, you get a chance to make your own meal plan. You can choose your meal by several different categories.
Meal of the Day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, side dishes, beverages, snack and dessert.
Cooking Method: baked, dutch oven or saucepan, freezer friendly, grilled, one dish dinners, skillet dinners, or slow cooker.
Ingredients: beans, beef, breads, chicken, eggs, fish & seafood, pasta, pizza, pork, potatoes & sweet potatoes, quinoa, rice, salads, or turkey & ham.
Dietary Preferences: dairy-free; gluten, dairy, soy-free; gluten-free; paleo; vegetarian.
At the bottom of the categories are other options also: My Favorites, My Saved Meal Plans, and Modify This Week’s Meal Plan.
I wanted to try this section out first, so all I had to do was choose a category, select recipes and print my meal plan. There are so many recipes for each category, and you can see the recipe before you add it to the custom meal plan. I like that feature because you can see if it’s something your family would want or not, before adding it. I chose Avocado Ranch Dip (from the meal-snacks), Crunchy Dijon Cod (from baked), and Tuna Pasta Salad (from ingredients – pasta). After I was done I chose to download the pdf now, but I could have had it emailed to me for later. The great thing about this is it gives me the recipes and a shopping list for all 3 recipes! The shopping list is broken down by sections in the grocery store like, meat, baking, and produce. The $5 Meal Plan is a great solution for busy moms who want to save time and money! Click To Tweet
Member’s Choice Meal Plan
This section gives you access to their members’ favorite meals. They asked their members what their favorite meals are and listed them in this section. There are 10 recipes that come with a shopping list. My favorites that I want to try are the Zucchini Chocolate Chip Muffins and the Spiced Pumpkin Latte. This meal plan is normally $3, but it comes for free when you sign up for the $5 meal plan free trial.
$5 Meal Plan Welcome Video
The welcome video is 1 minute and 55 seconds, so it won’t take much of your time and it’s worth watching. The lady in the video welcomes you and even gives you some money saving tips! There’s several other videos on the site that will provide you with more tips about shopping the sales and maximizing your shopping list.
$5 Meal Plan Facebook Group
I love Facebook, so I was really excited about the Facebook Group! In the group, people ask questions, share pictures of the meals they’ve made from the plan, give tips on what worked for them, and say hello when they join. The other members in the group are very helpful and friendly, and answer each other’s questions if they can. I like seeing the pictures of the meals they made and hearing how much their family enjoyed them.
See Your Plans Now $5 Meal Plan Member Area
In this section, you can build your own meal plan, download pre-made pdf meal plans, visit the library, visit the store, and get free coupons.
Build Your Own Meal Plan: It is the same as the custom meal plan I mentioned above. It’s not just limited to the first time you register, you can use it to build your own meal plan as often as you want.

Visit the Store: The store has specialty meal plans and ebooks available for sale. Some examples of the specialty meal plans are 6 Weeks of Summer Slow Cooker Meals, and 6 Weeks of Skimpy Calorie Meals. All of these meal plans are under $10.

Emails from the $5 Meal Plan
Soon after you register for the $5 Meal Plan, you will receive a welcome email that tells you how to log in and gives you the link to a bonus deal. The next email tells you how the plan works and gives you links to the welcome video, the sections mentioned above, another bonus, and the previous week’s meal plan.
A couple of days later, they’ll send you an email asking how you like everything, if you’ve tried any of the bonuses, and tell you about the free printables section. That includes a Popular Ingredients Price List and Homemade Spice Mixes recipes.
That Friday, you start receiving your first weekly meal plan.
A few days later, they send you an invitation to join their Facebook group.
A couple of days before your trial period is going to end, they send you a reminder.
I think the $5 Meal Plan is definitely worth signing up for. It will save you time and money by providing you with a week’s worth of meals already planned out for you and a shopping list organized by section in the grocery store. Plus, you’ll get new recipes every week for you and your family to try, and you might even find some new family favorites. You’ll discover lots of other great recipes with their custom meal plans, and with the nutritional information available, you can pick the ones that meet your family’s dietary needs. You’ll also learn great tips about saving money at the grocery store, and even at other stores like Costco. For such a low price every month, and a free 14 day trial to begin with, I definitely think it’s worth a try.
