Save Money at the Dollar Tree on Cards
My favorite thing to buy at the Dollar Tree is cards. The cards only cost $0.50 each! Have you looked at a card in a regular store lately? They’re $4 – $5!
They have cards for anything you need. I buy cards for Christmas, graduation, birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, anniversaries, teachers, baby shower, bridal shower, wedding, etc.
Save Money at the Dollar Tree on Party Supplies
The Dollar Tree is a great source for party supplies! They have gift bags, cake decorations, party favors, invitations, streamers, plates, and cutlery. You can also get several balloons there, for the price of just one anywhere else.
You can get creative with your birthday party themes, using supplies from the Dollar Tree. I saw someone’s blog post for a cute Lego party. They bought solid color blue, yellow, and red plates, cups, napkins, etc. They also used other party supplies to make decorations that looked like Lego bricks. I can’t find that person’s post anymore, but if you just go to Pinterest and type in “Dollar Tree Lego party,” lots of great ideas pop up.
The Dollar Tree does have character party supplies too. So if you’re like me, and not super creative, you can just take the easy route and buy the character supplies.
All of these party supplies are much cheaper than anything you can buy at the party store.
Save Money at the Dollar Tree on Prizes
Now, I know, just looking at this picture, it looks like the only prizes the Dollar Tree carries is for girls. However, that is not true, they do carry boy prizes too. I just didn’t have any boy prizes available that I could take pictures of.
Anyway, the Dollar tree carries a large assortment of kids’ prizes! As you can see, you don’t just get one thing in a pack. You actually get a lot of things in a pack for only $1! I’ve obviously already taken some out of the bags, but you get the idea. 6 cute tissue packs for $1, you can’t beat that! Plenty of pencils, mini notebooks, pony tail holders, character crayons, all for only $1!
You can use these as favors for your child’s birthday party.
They also make great items to put in the shoeboxes that they collect at Christmas time to send to kids in orphanages. We love going through the Dollar Tree and grabbing as many cute things as we can to make a child’s Christmas brighter. In fact, we get enough for 3 shoeboxes since it’s so affordable! My daughter, son, and I all choose things to go in our shoeboxes.
When I sub, sometimes I like to give out tickets to the kids that are doing a really great job. Then, at the end of the day, they turn in their tickets, in a boy and girl tub. I choose 2 or 3 tickets out of each, and the kids can come up and pick one of these prizes. By the way, this whole thing of tickets, is only $1! A teacher gave me the tip on where to buy them.
Save Money at the Dollar Tree on Home Organization
A couple of years ago, I decided to organize my bathroom drawers. I’d seen on other blogs, that they organize their bathrooms using cute baskets. Of course, I wanted to save money while I organized, so I went to the Dollar Tree. I was so excited to see so many different types of baskets to choose from! All the different shapes and sizes make it really easy to organize my bathroom drawers. I also organized the cupboards with bigger tubs too. Of course, you don’t just have to use them in your bathroom, you can use these baskets anywhere.
I used the empty ones on the right when I used to sell my craft items in a boutique. I made little signs for them, that stood up in the back, to say what I was selling and the price.
We also have some really big and bold colored baskets that we used for church. One year, my daughter and I hosted a table at the church Easter Egg hunt. We did a bean bag toss. We got the colored baskets from the Dollar Tree and they were perfect for tossing bean bags in.Do you want ideas on how to save money on things you buy for your family? Save Money at the Dollar Tree on Fake Flowers
I love to decorate my home for every holiday and season of the year! So, every month, I change my decor, including my flowers. Since my oldest son has severe allergies, we can’t have real flowers in the house, so we have fake flowers instead. The ones above are for the spring and summer months.
These are the flowers I display September to November.
These are for my favorite holiday – Christmas! I love how some of the flowers have pretty glitter on them.
By the way, these flowers last a really long time. I keep them in a tub when I’m not using them, and I just pull them out when it’s their month. I’ve been using these same set of flowers for so many years, that I can’t even remember how long! Not bad for only $1!
Save Money at the Dollar Tree on Kids’ Games and Educational Supplies
My kids all loved doing puzzles, and they can get expensive. So, luckily the Dollar Tree has lots of puzzles to choose from! It’s great that they even have popular character puzzles too, for only $1.
Since my kids are a little older now, my youngest is 11, I don’t have lots of pictures of other kid things to show you. However, the Dollar Tree does have lots of games and educational supplies for kids. I used to buy lots of different flashcards, workbooks, and coloring and activity books. These were great for learning at home, in waiting rooms for appointments, on road trips, and visiting my parents.
Save Money at the Dollar Tree on Just About Everything
There’s tons of other things you can save on at the Dollar Tree, like things for your kitchen, cleaning, health and beauty, etc. However, I don’t think you want to be here all day reading my post. So, you should just go check out the website for yourself and see the great deals you can find for only $1.
However, I do want to tell you that not everything in the store is a deal. If you notice, I didn’t mention food, and some other things that they carry. (Granted, I don’t spend hours there shopping either, so there could be other great deals that I missed.) I just want to suggest that you pay attention to the prices on food and other items, because sometimes they’re not a deal. Sometimes, you can get things cheaper on sale and using coupons at the grocery store. I don’t say this to discourage you from shopping there, just to be honest. Not everything in every store is always a deal, no matter how many great deals you can find there!
So, I would love to know if you already shop at the Dollar Tree, what is your favorite thing to buy there? If you don’t shop there yet, but are going to check it out after reading my post, I’d love to now what you’re looking forward to buying first?
