Layout of Each Chapter in God’s Words of Life for Mothers
Each chapter begins with several verses. Some chapters have 2 or 3 pages of verses. Other chapters have 4 or 5 pages of verses. All of them relate to the topic of the chapter.
Each chapter ends with a devotional related to the topic and verses.
By the way, this is my absolute favorite devotional from the book! I read through the page answering the questions affirmatively in my head. Then, when I got to the last 2 paragraphs about having confidence in God choosing me to be their mother, I had to pause. I thought, “Oh!” Then, I thought about each of my children and their unique needs, and totally felt blessed to be chosen to be their mom!
My Opinion of God’s Words of Life for Mothers
As soon as I opened the package and saw, God’s Words of Life for Mothers, I thought it was absolutely beautiful! I think I drove my husband crazy going on and on about how I’ve never seen such a beautiful book! My 19 year old daughter also thought it was very pretty and looked like a birthday card she had just made for her friend.
From this view of the front page, you can really see the details in this book. It has a nice purple patterned design on the top and bottom. The title is encircled with a pink and purple cloud design. The font combination makes it look pretty and feminine. One of my favorite details is the scalloped edges! I don’t think I’ve even seen a book before that took so much care and consideration when making the design!
I love that this book is arranged by topic and that it’s in alphabetical order. It makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. Often, when I’m feeling a lot of stress, or sad, or lonely, I turn to the Scriptures to help me feel better. The problem is, I don’t know where to look! Before, my go-to would be to just turn to Psalms because I was bound to find some encouraging words in there. Now that I have this book, I can just look up the emotion I need to address and find the verses and encouraging words I need to read! It’s so much more convenient!
Another great thing about this book is that it gives you what you really need. Sometimes you need to hear some comforting words. Other times, you need some encouraging words. Then, whether you want to admit it or not, there are times you need some convicting words in order to help you change your attitude. This book gives you all of that! Are you a mom in need of some encouragement? Do you want to be able to look up certain topics when you're looking through the Scriptures? My Favorite Topics in God’s Words of Life for Mothers
I found 7 favorite topics in God’s Words of Life for Mothers. They are:
Commitment: It talks about being strong and not giving up. My favorite part is the devotional where it talks about being committed to God’s ways, not the ways of the world. This gives me great confidence to stay strong and stand up for what I believe as I substitute teach in the public school system. Also, it encourages me in the way I think my husband should be in charge of our household, when so many other women condemn me for this.
Confidence: This is the devotional page I already shared with you above. It encourages me that God has the best plans in mind for my children. Those plans included choosing me as their mother. Sometimes you just really need to be reminded of that! Especially as your kids get older and don’t always “like” you temporarily.
Contentment: I am a huge complainer, even though I know I shouldn’t be! This is always my New Year’s Resolution – to complain less. Yet, I can’t ever seem to do it. So, this devotional is really convicting for me, yet it’s something I need to hear. It talks about how my complaining is just like the Israelites!
Emotions: I don’t know about you, but I always think I have an endless supply of myself to give. However, that is very wrong. You know you need to be replenished yourself when you start yelling at your kids too often or get easily frustrated with your husband. Sometimes, moms just need to step back and take a break for a minute. It doesn’t have to be for very long. Maybe just go to your room for 5 minutes and pull out this book. Look up the topic bothering you the most and read it. Then, go back to your kids, and you’ll be better equipped to be the mom you’re meant to be.
Fear: Unfortunately, I am afraid way more often than I should be. I have tons of things I’m afraid of, like bugs and dogs. Also, things like being afraid of what will happen to my kids. So, every single thing in this chapter is what I need to hear, often. The verses that address fears and the devotional are things I just need to keep reading over and over.
Healthy Living: I love that this topic is in this book! It’s so awesome that there are so many verses in the Bible that talk about healthy eating and fitness! The devotional gives examples of small healthy living steps moms need to take so they can take better care of their family.
Peace: I think this is something all moms need more of! Life can be so stressful at times and all we want is just a little bit of peace! Well, reading these encouraging verses can definitely help. The devotional is great because it talks about how peace isn’t necessarily found in things like a bubble bath. Peace can be found even in the midst of a mom’s chaotic day, if she fixes her mind on God.
So, as you can see, I absolutely love everything about this book. I love the beautiful way it looks and the beautiful words written inside!
Who is God’s Words of Life for Mothers for?
This may seem like an obvious answer, but it’s not. I think we often only think of mothers as young women holding little precious babies.
I think God’s Words of Life for Mothers is perfect for all mothers, no matter what stage of mothering they’re in. These are words that all moms need to hear. From the brand new mother to the mom who now has an empty nest.
Here’s a list of suggestions of when to give this to a mother as a gift:
- Baby shower

- Last day of school for her children
- When her children leave home and go off on their own
