My 11 Year Old’s Opinion of The Adventure Bible Book of Daring Deeds
This was my son’s favorite activity from The Adventure Bible Book of Daring Deeds. He said, “I chose the fort because forts are fun to play in.” He loves making forts around the house! They’re always such fun, secret places to play in.
About the book overall, this is what my son said, “They give lots of new ideas for crafts and it’s cool how they relate to God.” I’m glad he enjoyed how the crafts/activities are tied into the Bible. Are you looking for something fun to do with your kids over the summer? My Opinion of The Adventure Bible Book of Daring Deeds
The introduction is written to the kids! I think that’s really neat that from the very beginning, your child feels like the book was written just for them. It talks about the book being written, “for kids like YOU who want to learn, create, plan, and build while having a blast doing it!” That would certainly make your child want to keep reading it.
I really like how the intro. tells the kids that they can do some of the activities on their own, and there’s some they’ll need help with. There’s also a safety warning for the activities that require help from an adult.
The Adventure Bible Book of Daring Deeds has 60 different activities for your kids to do. Each activity includes a “Think about This” section that encourages your child to relate the art to how God thinks about them. I’ll give you some examples below as I show you my favorite activities.
Also, each activity includes a Scripture that relates to the activity. The Scripture also relates to the thoughts given in the “Think about This” section.
I love how the activity and all of the thoughts and Scripture all relate together. Besides learning new arts, crafts, etc., your child is also learning great life lessons! Since those lessons are tied into something physical and visual, it will make it easier for your child to remember when they’re in a situation where they need some encouragement.
This is the first activity in the book. I’ve never heard of aluminum foil art, and thought it sounded like a neat thing to do. You can see the “Think about This” section and the Scripture on the page and how they relate to the art and each other. How encouraging for your child to know God cares about them and gave them the tools to live right!
My kids love trail mix, so I thought it would be fun to make our own. It’s great that it also says why trail mix is good for you. That way your child can hear from someone else why it’s good for them. Maybe they’ll believe you now that they heard it from someone else too!
This looks like something super fun to do when your kids have friends over to play! On the next page, it gives lots of different examples of secret codes your kids can make. They can use letters as numbers, write words backwards, and more. Then their friends can decode their message.
This one is my favorite! Just looking at the picture as I flipped through the book, made me stop to take a closer look. This sounds easy to do and it looks like it will be beautiful! Plus, the message is really inspiring about how God makes these huge things, yet He still cares about you! Some of these messages are nice for parents to hear too!
I remember making this when I was a kid in VBS. What a neat thing to be able to make the same thing with my child! It turns out really neat looking and it lasts for a long time!
My dad had a wooden marble maze that we used to play with together. So, when I saw this, I thought we have to make it! How fun would it be for my son and I to make this together! Then, when my parents come over for dinner, we can surprise my dad with it. Then, we could all play with it together.
Since I’m fluent in American Sign Language, this was my favorite page! My older daughter also knows sign language from watching me interpret at church. My 11 year old son also knows a little bit, and enjoys learning the alphabet. The “Think about This” on the page sums up exactly how I feel about sign language! What a fun thing to learn with your family! They can even teach their friends and then they can have a “secret” form of communication at school.
As you can see, I absolutely love this book! I like how it reminds me of my childhood and how I can share that with my son. I like how it can bring all of the different generations together, including grandparents. It’s also great that there’s lots of new crafts/activities that I’ve never heard about before.
