When I surveyed my audience, one of the biggest things all of the women said that they wish they had more of was TIME! Women want more time in the day, and one of the biggest way they want to get that extra time is by faster meal prep, and less time spent in the kitchen. At the same time, they want to make simple and nutritious meals. So, how can you make these nutritious meals, yet still save time in the kitchen?
Well, I paid attention to the products I use while cooking, that save me time, yet still allow me to make healthy meals. I also went through all my cupboards and made note of all the time-saving kitchen products I have, and I came up with this Holiday Gift Guide for Moms in the Kitchen.

My Kitchen Aid mixer is one of the best gifts my husband ever got for me! It makes cooking and baking so much easier and a lot faster! It also saves your arms from getting so sore from beating batter by hand. You can use the Kitchen Aid mixer for making cookie dough, cakes, brownies, whipped cream, and even mashed potatoes! My uncle always tells me I make the best mashed potatoes he’s ever eaten, and my trick is using the Kitchen Aid to mix them up. There’s also lots of attachments for the mixer, like a pasta maker; something I always wanted to try making myself. Hmm, maybe that will have to go on my wish list!
It is amazing how many things a food processor can be used for and how much time it saves in the kitchen! No more shredding by hand all of that zucchini you grew in your garden, for all of the zucchini bread you’re going to make! Just slice the zucchini in fourths, and stick it in the food processor and in just a few seconds, you’ll have plenty of shredded zucchini for your bread! It’s great for making homemade bread crumbs – just toast the bread, tear it up, and put it in the processor, and voila, breadcrumbs! No more expensive store-bought hummus, you can just stick a low sodium can of garbanzo beans in the food processor along with water, lemon, and garlic (or other ingredients depending on the recipe), and you have your own hummus in just about a minute. You can also save money by buying cheese in bulk and shredding it in the food processor. I bet your wife/mom will thank you as much as I thanked my husband for this awesome gift!
An electric griddle is a huge help in the kitchen. Instead of eating unhealthy pancakes that you can buy from the store, why not make your own healthy pancakes on the electric griddle? Your family will be begging you to let them have a pancake because the whole house smells so good while they’re cooking! If you want to save even more time, you can make pancakes on the weekend and freeze them. Then, whenever anyone wants a pancake for breakfast, they just take how many they want out of the freezer and heat it in the microwave. It makes busy mornings so much easier! The griddle is also great for making grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas. It’s very easy to clean too, since it’s nonstick, so you even save time doing dishes. That’s a huge plus for me because I hate doing dishes!
I can’t tell you how much I love my cookie scoop! I don’t know why it took me so long to even know there was such a thing as a cookie scoop, but when I found out, I was amazed! It made making cookies so much easier and faster! Since we’re on a heart healthy diet, I started making cookies myself, because I could make them a lot healthier than the ones you can buy in the store. With 3 kids and a husband who loves cookies, I had to find a way to still have cookies in our house. Making cookies can be so time consuming, especially scooping them out with a spoon and trying to get the batter off the spoon, and it was just a huge mess! The cookie scoop changed all that! All you have to do is scoop up the batter in the cookie scoop, squeeze the handles, and out pops a perfectly shaped ball of cookie dough! Your cookies will bake evenly and will be the same size, so no more children fighting over who got the bigger cookie!
This is another product that will revolutionize the cookie making that goes on in your house! This mat has circles imprinted on it that show you exactly where to drop that cookie dough from your scoop. The cookies also come off really easily when you use your spatula to move them to the cooling rack. No more broken cookies with half the cookie left on the cookie sheet. Also, since there’s nothing left on the mat, it’s super easy and quick to wash. You can also use this mat for any of your baking needs and it makes clean up so much easier. It’s also healthier to bake with this mat because you don’t need to grease the pan.
This saute pan is the perfect size for cooking one pot meals. The nice thing about one pot meals is less dishes! That means less time in the kitchen and more time to spend with your family. Also, it’s non-stick, so that means your food comes out easily for serving and it’s super quick and easy to wash. No more scrubbing forever trying to get the stuck on food to come off!
My crock pot is one of my favorite kitchen appliances that I own. It makes cooking dinner fast and easy and it’s a healthy way of cooking. It also makes the meat nice and tender, which my family appreciates (when I bake meat, it’s often a little dry). It’s great because you just load in all the ingredients in the morning, and by dinner time it’s done! This really saves you from having to cook all day in the kitchen, and once again, it’s only one dish to wash.
A blender is such a handy kitchen appliance to have. They’re great for making smoothies, milkshakes or frozen drinks. You can make your own smoothies at home for so much less than buying one at a smoothie shop. We like having a smoothie every Saturday afternoon for our snack. It’s really quick and easy to make using a blender. This blender is nice because it has a wave action function which pushes the ingredients down so it blends it smoothly – that’s much easier than having to open the blender every minute and shove the ingredients down yourself. The spout makes it really easy to pour the smoothie into the cups – much better than pouring it from a regular blender and spilling it all down the side of the cup.
Our Keurig is something the whole family loves! My husband, daughter and I all use it for our coffee, and my youngest son uses it for his hot cocoa. When my parents come over for dinner, my dad likes to use it for an after dinner cup of coffee. Making coffee in the Keurig saves us all tons of money from having to buy it at a coffee shop. They are coming out with new flavors for k-cups often, so there’s always plenty of varieties to try. As a mom, I know, any mom would love to have a Keurig in order to just get a few moments of peace and comfort, even if it’s only while closing our eyes, taking a sip of coffee, and pretending we’re somewhere else quiet and peaceful.
A waffle maker is such a wonderful kitchen appliance to have. You can use it to make fresh waffles for a special weekend breakfast, or to make enough for the week. Just freeze them, and then when you’re ready to eat them, just pop them in the toaster and they’re crispy and warmed up in just a couple of minutes. This makes school day breakfasts fast and easy, and you’ll feel good knowing the kids are headed to school after eating a healthy breakfast.
I know any mom who spends any amount of time in the kitchen will love any of these gifts! I’m a mom who spends lots of time in the kitchen and all of these kitchen tools/appliances have been a huge help to me in getting meals on the table quicker. I also enjoy the fact that all of these require less clean up, which means less dishes for me to do! Anything that saves me time, is a great thing!
Do you have any favorites on this list for yourself or that you are thinking of giving as a gift? Let me know in the comments.
I would also love it if you would share this holiday gift guide so that more moms have a chance of receiving a gift they’ll really like.
