You’ve heard about Amazon Prime being a really great deal, but you aren’t really sure if it’s a good deal for you. Especially when you have to pay for it for a whole year in advance! Sometimes it’s hard to know if a yearly subscription to something is really worth it or not.

I love saving money, so when I heard about Amazon Prime, I thought it sounded like a pretty good deal. However, I wanted to make sure that the savings were really worth the yearly price. So, I did lots of calculations on how much I would save versus the yearly subscription. I found out it’s definitely worth it for us. So, here are 10 of the best benefits of Amazon Prime that I found!

1. Free Shipping is one of the great benefits of Amazon Prime.

This one benefit alone is worth the price of the yearly subscription to Amazon Prime! Shipping usually costs $3 or more, sometimes lots more! If you’re like our family, we order something from Amazon every week or two. Sometimes, depending on the time of the year, it can be every day! The cost of shipping would quickly add up, but with Amazon Prime, your shipping is free!

Also, the free shipping is fast! There are over 100 million items available on Amazon that arrive two business days after they ship.

There are over 3 million available items that offer free same-day delivery or one-day delivery!

In certain U.S. cities, there is even free 2-hour delivery on some daily essentials and groceries!

If your kids want the latest video game, but it’s not out yet, you can get that shipped for free too! They have free release-date delivery for eligible pre-order items.

They have even come out with free key in-car and in-home delivery! If it’s available where you live, they can deliver items to inside your car or home for free! That way you don’t have to worry about the security of your packages even if you’re not there when the items are delivered.

2. Prime reading is one of my favorite benefits of Amazon Prime.

This is one of my favorite benefits! I absolutely love to read, and buying books can cost a fortune! It’s amazing how expensive books can be. I know you’re telling me I can just get them for free at the library, but the book selection there can be very limited. In fact, I read all of the Christian fiction books that our library has! So, I had to break down and get a Kindle, but it has been well worth it!

Every day, I have a list of books emailed to me. I chose a few different categories of books I’m interested in, and I get a list in my email every day. Usually on that list, is at least one free book available with Amazon Prime. I haven’t run out of books to read on my Kindle yet!

Also, you can just search for books on Amazon, and there’s tons of free ones available in every genre.

There are even magazines you can read for free! Magazine subscriptions can quickly add up, if you’re like me and read several of them. You can read them for free with Amazon Prime!

If you prefer audible books, there’s plenty of those to choose from too!

You can also get early access to editors’ picks at exclusive prices. You can choose one free Kindle book each month. Also, hardcover books are available for $9.99 or less!

3. Prime Music for all of you music lovers!

There are over 2 million hand-curated songs included with Amazon Prime. With that many songs, there has to be something for everyone! I don’t even think anyone would ever run out of music to listen to either.

There are lots of playlists and stations you can choose from. You can also search by album, artist, song, and genre. There are “50 best” for the different genres. You can even make your own playlist. It keeps track of what you recently played so if you really like something and want to listen to it again, it’s right there for you.

Across the top of the Amazon music section are various themes. There are songs that go with the “Big Game,” “Black History Month,” “Artists on the Rise,” and “Amazon originals,” just to name a few.

It’s really easy to use too! Once you find what you want to listen to, you just hit play, and the music starts playing. For example, under “Popular Playlists,” I found “Christian Music for Work.” I just hit play, and a beautiful song started playing on my computer.

You can also listen to all of these really easily on your Alexa or Echo devices.

4. Prime Video for everyone in the family.

You can watch movies, tv, documentaries, original series, original kids series, sports, movies for kids & families, even foreign movies. Within each of these categories, are tons of sub-categories. For example, there are lots of different kinds of movies to watch: popular, recently added, top rated, box office hits, trending, romance, action adventure, comedy, and the list goes on!

There’s even sections for baby and kids, educational kids, top tv for kids and family.

So, no matter who’s in your family and no matter what kinds of movies or shows anyone likes to watch, there are plenty of choices with Amazon Prime! All of them are free with your membership. It’s just amazing how many choices there are! As I scrolled down to check them out, I thought I’d never get to the bottom of the list. You should never run out of things to watch!

5. Twitch Prime is one of the great benefits of Amazon Prime.

In case you’re like me and have no idea what Twitch is, I asked my 12 year old son. He said it’s a streaming service, mostly for video games. So, if you have a pre-teen, teen, or young adult in your house, this is a great benefit for them!

You can connect your Twitch account for free, and your teens can also connect their Twitch account for free.

You get free games with Prime and there are new games every month. Some of the games shown right now are Final Fantasy XIV, Runescape, and Warframe.

There’s free 2-day shipping on all official Twitch merchandise purchases in the U.S. My daughter walked by while I had the merchandise on my screen, and she thought the shirts were cute. There’s also some great sweatshirts and tank tops.

One thing we like to do when our parents come over to visit is to share our photos with them on the tv. It’s much easier for them to see all of the recent pictures we took on the big screen, rather than trying to share the little pictures on our phones.
